Crystal lamp base

I have a real passion for lamps and lighting. To me it completes and enhances the entire interior. Without the proper lighting you are only halfway there according to my interior principles. I have a pair of crystal lamp bases that I have found on one of my flee market outings. The are German and from the 60´s. And I have found the perfect purple lampshades for them in dupion silk that really makes them pop. What do you think?

Black and white art deco dresser

I have recently changed my web site and am placing my news here instead. Therefore some of you might have seen this dresser already. However, this is an art deco dresser I painted in a pitch black car paint. So it´s really high gloss on the top and the sides. On the front there is the wall paper Hexagono from Tres Tintas in black and white. The handles are made out of lucite and on top of the drawer there is leaf silver. It´s a really nice dresser that is small and decorative and is easy to place. Why not with your drinks tray on top?

Liana Yaroslavsky

A russian former model and graphic designer that moved on to interior design is now creating the coolest tables ever! This is definitely my kind of thing. She makes plexiglass boxes and places, among other things, chandeliers inside them. They can be turned on at night so you get a different inpression at nighttime. Some time ago the movie Coco before Chanel premiered. And on September 18th it will premiere in Sweden. The movie is a biography about the infamous fashion icon Coco Chanel with Audrey Tatou as Coco. The fashion designer not only had an eye for fashion but also had an interior in her private residence that is ecclectic and timeless. One of the best biographies is written by Edmonde Charles- Roux, long time friend of Chanel.

DIY Pimp your lampshade

I was about to discard an old lampshade of mine when I got an idea. The idea was to cut a silhouette and place it inside the lampshade. Very easy and the effect is instant. And the silhouette is only visible when the light is on. I like to think its a rather nice idea that its only visible once lit and once turned off it´s just a plain lampshade which means you don´t get tired of it as quickly.

Embroidered shoes and Flower mirror

I found these shoes by coincidence last year but found them to be too much really. But the style and pattern is really unique. They are designed by Kaffe Fassett (famous for his knitting patterns) Anyway if you are interested in buying them they are available at Decor in Copenhagen. This is a great vintage store on Israels Plads. So instead of shoes I swapped them for a bunch of orange french antique pearl flowers. Originally made as grave ornamentations. But I used them as a decoration for a mirror. Please comment if you like.

Pink and black rococo dresser

Here is yet another dresser I just finished making this week. I suppose you can call it Barbie pink and black. It is one of a kind, just like the rest of my other dressers. So I am really pleased with it and think it will look gorgeous in as a contrast piece in a funky way. I hope someone with a sense of humour would like to buy it. It´s really eye catching. Or what do you think?

Etno is back

Once again etno influences are back, if they ever left. I´m not sure. However there is a lot to be inspired from in this rich and colorful bank of ideas that span so widely. The pillow and teddy bear are hand made by refugee women from Zimbabwe. Each item tells the womans own story. Everything available from Afroart

From Great Britain with love

There could be no mistake to as where in the world I was.

This car was custom made inside and out. With seats and the rest of the interior in cream and pink. Of course the woman that owned it had two yorkshire terriers;-)



How typically British. Very inspiring though.

During a trip to England not long ago I came across some great stores that I want to share with you. Such as Bloomsbury Store in Bath. Where I bought my first Pantone mug in orange. Inspiring and yet a retro feel to them reminiscent of past times typically British in a way. You know that preppy feel from colleges and boarding schools. Filled with hunting gear, cricket playing gadgets and striped ties. Look at Jack Wills for more inspiration. Apart from that the entire feeling going from the airport in London down to Cornwall was partly like travelling back in time. All these beautiful little villages and houses. It made me understand why they are so keen on recording period dramas here.

Kimono fabric

I find kimono fabric very intricate and fascinating. I have several great finds that will be put to good use some day. Common patterns include cranes and chrysanthemums. Why not take a look on ebay for your own vintage fabrics? There is no stop to what you can do with it.

At home with Anna Sui

In this months issue of Elle Decor they have paid a visit to the home of fashion designer Anna Sui. A home that ouzes personal style and is unconventional with lots of attention paid to details. Above is a picture from her stude that among other things has a live size peacock. Look at the antiqued mirrored wall that enlarges the entire room.
Her bathroom speaks for itself really. I like the american way of putting wallpaper in the bathroom. Something swedes should consider as well in my humble opinin. Don´t make them too sterile but add personality. After all you spend a considerable amount of time in there so why not make it in to a room you love;-)

Vintage pillow cases

In my neighbouring city of Copenhagen Christina Lundsteen creates unique and beautiful pillows made out of vintage fabrics. Every pillow is unique and with a sense of luxury to it. Look at her home page to find re-sellers.

Recycle

Today I came across a really fun store on the internet. Located in Northtumberland, England. Re-found, has a unique and fun mix of vintage and new things that gives you cravings- like these lamps made from jelly moulds.

Rediscover

Some prints never goes out of style. I was called up by my relatives to give some advise on what to do with our homestead dating from ca 1910. So I went to one of the most well assorted wallpaper stores in town and found this beautiful William Morris print in yellow, green, eggshell and marroon. There are several other designs by him that are equally as beautiful. So don´t just look at new stuff but rediscover the old as well. You wont find that your neighbour have the same wallpaper on their walls!

Fendi

During my holiday I had the pleasure of travelling by train to Italy. One of my stops was in the beautiful town of Bologna, also known as the red city for it´s many red buildings. It was lined with luxurious stores as well as narrow streets packed with small family owned butcheries and shops for your greens grown in the italian sun. One of these high end stores was a Fendi boutique. It was housed in a fantastic building from which century I don´t know. But you wanted to stay there indeed!

Sleek and stylish

I was really happy to come across these wall lights the other day at Kvik. Scouring different sites for bathroom lighting finding everything looking more or less the same. But these really will do it for my bathroom project. Not only stylish, but inexpensive as well. They work as an uplight as well as a downlight with a frosted glass at the top and bottom. Available in both black and white. I chose the black one this time.

Source of inspiration

I came across this front door the other day and it belongs to the house of Miles Redd, interior decorator in New York. As I am currently working on a bathroom project and was unfortunate to find the tile I wanted for the bathroom this door was the new source of inspiration for the walls. In english it´s called Robins egg blue, but as far as I´m aware we don´t have a name for it in swedish. Nevertheless a beautiful shade of blue.

Flowers!

And again some flowers. These were a bargain in Copenhagen on a little plaza next to Magasin - one of Copenhagens most prestigous shopping centres. The little square is always packed with flowers of different shapes, sizes and colours as well as people! So this was my selection.

Summer mood

It´s easy to change the setting in a room by just adding some flowers and alter the lighting with just some candles. If your bored with your home try moving things around and be creative with what you got in your cupbords and things that can be reworked or altered in some way. This is a dresser I have made in turqoise and decorated with things already in my home.
